The Farmer - Laura Labovitz
Laura Labovitz was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and graduated with a BA in Psychology and a BA in Sociology in 2010. Post graduation, after a few years of various jobs, she attended the University of Denver and graduated with a Masters in Social Work with a focus on Animal Assisted Therapy. Her longtime dream is to open a therapy farm center, in the meantime she loves working on her farm and animal nutrition. Laura has always had a passion for animals and the outdoors. Every school project, volunteer opportunity, and job has been centered around helping animals. She also has always been inspired to help others. She began her natural farming journey while living in Colorado. It started because she wanted to improve the health and lives of her cats, dogs, and friends. Sitting in her mountain home in 2013, she hatched a plan to start small with some ducks, chickens, and goats. What started with just a few animals has now expanded to a 32 acre farm with over 70 animals in Georgia. She is now able to bring her experience and knowledge to her friends, family, and community. After working for years to increase the numbers of her herd and perfecting the pepper jelly recipe, Laura now hopes to expand the offerings of Ivy Rose Farm to the larger community. Laura spends most of her time on the farm with her husband, taking care of the animals, farm and plants, researching, reading, riding horses and always learning something new.
